I am sure this film was shot with great care and love, BUT in my opinion the thing it lacked most was BREATHING. Opera singers learn to control their breathing in order to charm our audience. I agree with other, less favorable opinions that the opening scene was really a bad example of lip-synching, especially because I couldn’t see Ms. Jolie breathing! Of course La Callas lived in luxury, but in my opinion the emphasis in this film was more on the visual side. This is a movie that made me stop watching until the end, and I’m sad about that.
